CARING FOR CASHMERE AND WOOL

Avoid wearing the same sweater for more then 5 days. Resting the garment, folding neatly and storing flat will increase the life of your cashmere. To preserve the quality of your garment we recommend avoiding anything coarse or abrasive, such as jewelry, jackets with texture and the frequent use of a shoulder bag. This will help prevent catching and the cause of pilling.

WASHING

We recommend hand washing or dry cleaning for all Wixii garments. To hand wash turn the garment inside out, prepare a cold wash using a mild natural detergent (baby shampoo can also be used) gently move the garment when washing pressing the soapy water throughout the garment, rinse the garment in cold water to remove excess detergent and avoid wringing or twisting.

DRYING

Do not hold up a wet garment by the shoulders, fully support your garment when picking up wet by your hands to avoid stretching, roll in a towel to remove excess water and dry flat on a new towel or on a drying rack. Line air in the shade in-between washes, to air and freshen your cashmere or wool garment. Cashmere and wool garments don’t hold the dirt and odor’s that synthetic garments do and require less washing.

RE SHAPING AND PILLING

Wool can loose its shape if incorrectly washed. Lightly re wash, using a very small amount of detergent, rinse gently and press the water out of the garment, arrange the garment neatly on a towel and allow to air dry.

The first wash can remove the ‘fluffing’ caused by the manufacturing process and flat packing. This will improve the hand feel of your garment. Wash inside out and avoid fabric softeners that can cause pilling. If pilling does occur, remove gently by hand or opt for an anti pilling comb. Electric de-pill machines are only suitable on heavy grade knits.

CARING FOR SILK

Silk is prone to stains from oily cosmetics and oily foods. To preserve the quality of your garment we recommend avoiding wearing silk when eating or cooking to prevent spills.

WASHING

We recommend hand washing or dry cleaning all Wixii garments. To hand wash turn the garment inside out, prepare a cold wash using a mild natural detergent, gently move the garment when washing pressing the soapy water throughout the garment, rinse the garment in cold water to remove excess detergent and avoid wringing or twisting. Never soak silk - this can destroy your garment.

Note: The texture of silk will become a little pebbly in appearance with repeat hand washing. If the luster of new silk is preferred dry cleaning is recommended. Dry cleaning is best for removing difficult stains.

DRYING

Drip dry in the shade or inside (sun drying may result in fading) We recommend steaming your silk to remove creases, this will keep the longevity of the garment. Hanging in a steamy bathroom is a good alternative if you do not have a steamer. Line air in the shade in-between washes, to air and freshen your silk garment. Silk garments don’t hold the dirt and odor’s that synthetic garments do and require less washing.

STAINS

Any stain on silk should be acted on quickly. Spot cleaning without washing the entire garment is not recommended as water marking can occur. Oil is the enemy! Talcum powder pushed gently into the oil stain can help lift an oil stain. After applying the talcum powder, gently dab with a dry flannel or soft brush. Natural stain remover products are advised. Colour test before application. Dry cleaning is advised for tough stain removal.
